Work in Progress, Digital Painting

This is a start to another digital painting which I will maybe finish sometimes later. I worked on this a while ago and haven´t touched it since, but I will probably get back to it. The name Belle Triste will become the characters name for my epic graphic novel series (to be released in 2027 ><).

Sketches and drawings

Some drawings in my small sketchbook (postcard size) from tonight and a bigger sized homework drawing of a female rogue in motion with a staff weapon ("homework task") at Klaus Scherwinskis (www.klausscherwinski.de) illustration course two weeks ago.

I think I sometimes get the shadow and light rendering done niceley but I am not so great of capturing a convincing pose just by linework and some things always seem a bit off proportionally in my drawings.

Another Wacom thing

I wrestled with this way too long. It looked almost like this after a (pretty) short time and then I tried to improve it and it always got worse. Shading, proportions, perspective, struggling with the graphic tablet ... something was always off.

There are still a lot of things that I dislike about it, but I need to go on and do something new now.

Another Coffeehouse girl

So, here is another of the lunch break doodles colored, but obviously with more time taken. It does not have the same urgency, but it was a good practice for me and I kinda like how it turned out.

French coffeehouse girl ordering a cup of coffee

I loved it yesterday when I did it. Today the love went down to being okay with it. :) Generally I like the type of art that is reduced but anatomically somewhat correct. That would actually be more the comic style I would want to go for. I guess it was more prominent in the olden days (50s, 60s) - today the main thing, at least here in Germany, are Mangas.

Mangas are not my cup of tea though.
